ART THERAPY

WHY ART THERAPY?

  • Art therapists offer the use of drawing, painting, and 3-D materials as instruments which help individuals to  better express and understand themselves.
  • Artistic expression offers a rich tool for self-discovery and an outlet for the release of emotions.
  • A new visual language for communication develops.

INDIVIDUAL ART THERAPY

  • Personal responses and reflections of client art are explored with the art therapist, who serves as a guide, a witness, and/or a mirror.
  • The importance of the process while creating is reinforced during individual art therapy sessions.
  • Sessions build on a variety of psychological and human development theories that uniquely benefit each client.

GROUP ART THERAPY

    • Groups and workshops offer a wide variety of art materials from which to choose.

    • You may decide to receive instruction and guidance while creating.

    • Themes or demonstrations are offered for those who prefer to have some direction.

    • Each participant is an independent artist working alongside other independent artists.

    • Techniques for combining mindfulness with art will be provided.

    • Group members participate in a supportive and confidential discussion about their artwork, techniques, and inspirations.
